Summary: Godzilla and Mothra have had a relationship across the franchise that can best be described as iffy. It would seem that they have been forever doomed to serve as foils to one another, with one's capacity for destructive retribution and another's desire for peace. But finally, it would seem that a continuity has finally decided that these two are more complete together than apart.

History: According to ancient history, Godzilla and Mothra's species have shared a symbiotic relationship since time immemorial. And it was a good one too, seeing how the two species were the first to go against the evil King Ghidorah when he first came to Earth. But alas, just like Godzilla, only one remains. But here's the thing. Mothra dies a lot. But she reincarnates too. And recently, she's hatched again in a temple just for her in the Yunnan Rainforest of China. A pity it was around the time that stupid alien hydra was reawakened.

Notable Kills: None...sort of. See Final Fate.

Final Fate: Mothra manages to help MONARCH get Godzilla back on his feet by calling to him from his underwater lair, and later joins him in the battle of Boston. Unfortunately, Ghidorah calls in Rodan to fight her. While she's able to bring the pterosaur down with her stinger, she's gravely injured. She uses the last of her strength to protect Godzilla before being obliterated by Ghidorah's Gravity Beams. Luckily, her soul empowers her king into becoming Burning Godzilla, so it's safe to say she got the last laugh when the malicious golden horror was reduced to nothing. Even better, she reincarnated just in time to convince Godzilla to work with Kong in order to defeat the Skar King. She remains one of Earth's best guardians.

Powers/Abilities: In both her larval and adult form, Mothra can fire blasts of sticky web that can restrain any opponent. As an adult, she can emit God Rays, which are blinding bright lights that act as a beacon and a means of dispelling storms and knocking down opponents. Her most powerful offensive attack is a hidden stinger at the end of her abdomen which can pierce any hide and may or may not also be an ovipositor (good luck sleeping with that in mind). And if she dies, her soul can enter Godzilla to help him enter his Burning state. Also, if she lays an egg before a demise, she will be reborn later.

Weakness: Beings of equal or greater power.

Scariness Factor: 2.5- Not going to lie, this is one of the more insectoid and bizarre looks this moth has had. Between her face full of mouth parts and those mantis-like limbs, it's easy to see why anyone would at first be a bit intimidated. But just like previous Mothras, this one is benevolent at heart, always making sure never to harm the innocent while doing her best to vanquish evil. Also, she legitimately brings out the best in Godzilla, to the point where it's hard not to see them as a legitimate mated pair.

Trivia: -According to director Michael Dougherty, Mothra was the most difficult to redesign. The biggest challenge was making her look able to fight, with the team looking at jet fighters, mantids, dragonflies, and obviously moths for reference. Even "Starship Troopers" was used as a reference.

-Initially, Mothra wasn't going to be in GxK due to Toho very likely not giving Legendary the rights again. Her role was to be given to an original titan named Fosphera. The similar name and the utterly bizarre design, looking like a cross between a screwed-up Siamese cat and an angel, did nothing to dispel allegations of it being just a bootleg Mothra. Thankfully, this did not happen.
